What is the Broker Academy Program?

The AHCT Broker Academy Program is a free training program for people in communities who need more resources about healthcare. It prepares them  to become licensed health insurance brokers in Connecticut. Brokers help people understand their health and dental coverage options and sign up for coverage that’s right for them.

Why Become a Health Insurance Broker?

Health insurance can be confusing, and many people need help. That’s where brokers come in! As a broker, you will help people in your community:

  • Find affordable health and dental coverage.
  • Understand the different type of coverage options and how they work.
  • Enroll in coverage that fits their needs.

Plus, brokers can earn a commission from our insurance carriers for enrolling people and small employers in health plans. You can earn a living while making difference in your community.

Who Can Apply?

To apply for the Program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be 18 years or older.
  • Provide proof of a GED or high school diploma.
  • Submit one to three letters of recommendation.
  • Write a personal statement: Why you would be a good fit for this Program?
  • Tell us how you helped your community – a resume that shows your history of community involvement or service, communication skills and customer service skills.

What Will You Learn?

Participants in the Broker Academy Program will receive:

  • Free weekly training sessions in May and in-person classes in June.
  • A five-month mentorship with an experienced broker.
  • Professional development and program support.
  • Laptops – you must attend the in-person classes to be able to keep the laptop we give you.

Don’t miss out. Attend an information session and learn more about a rewarding new opportunity.
