It’s that time of year. Open Enrollment for health and dental coverage through Access Health CT (AHCT) kicks off November 1. This is your opportunity to shop, compare and enroll in health or dental coverage or change your current health or dental plan for 2025.

Whether you’re enrolling for the first time or renewing existing coverage, we have the information you need to explore your options.

Deadlines

For coverage starting January 1, 2025, you must enroll by December 15, 2024. If you enroll between December 16, 2024 and January 15, 2025, your coverage will not begin until February 1, 2025.

A Wide Range of Coverage Options

This year, we have 22 health plans from high-quality insurance carriers to choose from, categorized by metal level. Platinum plans have the highest premium (monthly payment), but the lowest costs when you see a doctor or fill a prescription. Gold plans have high premiums, but low costs when you use your plan. Silver plans have moderate premiums, and moderate costs when you use your plan. And Bronze plans have the lowest premiums, but the highest costs when you use your plan. You can select a plan that best meets your health needs and fits your financial situation.

Essential Health Benefits Are Included

All health plans offered through AHCT provide coverage for 10 Essential Health Benefits. This means all of our coverage options cover emergency room care, hospitalization, prescription drugs, mental health services, and more. These services are an essential part of making sure you get the care you need when you need it. Learn more about Essential Health Benefits, here.

Dental Coverage

All health plans offered through Access Health CT include pediatric dental coverage for anyone under 26 years old, and some plans offer limited dental coverage for adults. You can also enroll in an adult dental plan through Access Health CT. You can enroll in both a health and dental plan. Or you can enroll in one or the other.

Financial Help Is Available

Worried about the costs of health coverage? You’re not alone, and there’s good news. Fortunately, financial assistance is available to help lower the amount you pay monthly to your health insurance company (premium) and expenses not paid by your insurance company (out-of-pocket expenses).

As Connecticut’s official health insurance marketplace, Access Health CT is the only place where you can qualify for financial help to lower your costs. You may qualify for low- or no-cost coverage through HUSKY Health Programs (Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)) or the Covered CT Program. Nearly 90% of customers receive some kind of financial help.

Comparing and selecting health or dental coverage options can be complicated, but you don’t have to do it alone. Whether you have questions about benefits, premiums and deductibles, or want to see if you qualify for financial help, free enrollment assistance is available.
